The Government has laid the draft Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2025 before Parliament, setting out the new statutory rates applying to certain awards of employment tribunals and other amounts payable under employment legislation.

Changes include:

  • the cap on a week’s pay for statutory redundancy pay calculations will increase from £700 to £719

 

  • the limit on compensatory awards for unfair dismissal will rise from £115,115 to £118,223

 

  • statutory guarantee pay will increase from £38 to £39 per day

If approved, the changes will take effect from 6th April 2025.

We are now looking for a Solicitor to provide specialist advice and representation on employment law and provide representation in employment tribunal cases. The role is based in our London office and is part of our Legal Department. The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and Head of Legal. They will advise officers, representatives and the wider membership on complex legal issues, relating to individual and collective employment law; run employment tribunal cases; contribute to policy development and develop and deliver training.

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years’ post qualification experience.
  • Specialist knowledge of employment law and an ability to manage and advise on complex case work.
  • Experience of handling Employment Tribunal cases.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate legal information and disseminate accordingly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, representatives, members, employers, and wider stakeholders.
  • Have strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills.
