From 1 October 2026, the usual time limit for bringing most Employment Tribunal claims increased from three months to six months. That includes claims such as unfair dismissal, discrimination and unlawful deductions from wages.
There is, however, an important transitional point to remember: the new time limit generally applies where the dismissal, act or other relevant event happens on or after 1 October 2026. Events before 1 October 2026 will ordinarily remain subject to the previous time limit.
