The UK’s tax burden may never have been higher, and we are going to let your accountants and other advisers update you about the finer details of what the first ever female Chancellor of the Exchequer has just revealed, but we do want to inform you about the national minimum wage increases which have been announced by the Government for 2025.
We now know the increases to the national minimum wage, with effect from 1 April 2025, are going to be as follows:
- 21 and over – will rise from £11.44 to £12.21 an hour
- 18-20 – will rise from £8.60 to £10 an hour
- Apprentices – will rise from £6.40 to £7.55 an hour
This is the largest increase for Under 21s on record and is probably the first step towards a single rate for all adults.
The accommodation offset will also rise to £10.66 per day.
